# Partnero for Cursor

> Install the Partnero plugin in Cursor to manage your program from the editor and add referral tracking to your codebase correctly.

The Partnero plugin does two things. It connects Cursor to Partnero's [MCP server](/guides/mcp-server), so you can
read and act on your program without leaving the editor. And it teaches Cursor's agent how Partnero tracking
actually works, so the integration it writes is correct the first time instead of plausible-looking.

## Install

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Customize">
    In Cursor, open **Customize** in the sidebar and search for **Partnero**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Install the plugin">
    Select **Install** and choose whether to enable it for one project or for your user account.

    <Note>
      To connect only the MCP server, without the skills, use the

      instead.
    </Note>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign in and choose a program">
    The first Partnero request opens an authorization page in your browser. Sign in, choose which program Cursor
    may access, and approve.

    There is no API key to paste and nothing to configure — the server registers Cursor as a client on its own.
    Access is scoped to the program you pick, and you can re-authorize to switch programs or revoke it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## It knows your program

Because the connection is live, the agent doesn't have to interrogate you before it can write anything. It reads
your program ID and type, the shape of your referral links, your attribution window and your currency, and writes
the integration to match — then checks its own work by looking for the test customer and transaction it just told
you to create.

The one thing it deliberately can't read is your REST API key, which integration code needs. That stays in the
dashboard under **Integration → API**.

## What you can ask

Because the plugin carries both the live connection and the integration knowledge, one conversation can go from a
question about your data to a change in your code.

```text theme={"system"}
Which partners drove the most revenue last month?
Add Partnero affiliate tracking to my Next.js app
Why didn't order 10482 pay a commission?
Build a referral dashboard page for logged-in users
Create a transaction for customer 4821 for $99
```

Write operations go through the same confirmation Cursor applies to any tool that changes something. Several of
them send email or fire webhooks to your endpoints, and the server declares that, so Cursor asks before running
them.

## What's in the plugin

| Component | What it covers |
| - | - |
| MCP server | The full Partnero tool set — partners, customers, transactions, leads, rewards, program settings and webhooks |
| Tracking overview | How the link, cookie, sign-up and transaction fit together, and which method applies |
| Affiliate tracking | Script, sign-up call, transaction call, refund reversal |
| Refer-a-friend | Referral tracking plus the in-app dashboard that shows a customer their link, referrals and balance |
| No-code platforms | Webflow, Squarespace, Framer, Kajabi, WordPress, Wix, GoHighLevel, Simvoly, Thinkific, BigCommerce, Calendly, Typeform |
| Payment processors | Attribution through Stripe, Paddle and Chargebee — Payment Links, Checkout Sessions, and server-created subscriptions |
| Server-to-server | Cookieless tracking with click IDs and postbacks, for affiliate networks and ad platforms |
| Mobile apps | Deep link attribution for iOS, Android, React Native and Flutter |
| Webhooks | Receiving Partnero events, with signature verification and idempotency |
| Troubleshooting | Why a given sale earned no commission, traced through your live data |
| `/verify-partnero-integration` | Audits an existing integration and reports what's losing money |

The skills load themselves when the conversation calls for them. You can also invoke one directly by name, such as
`/partnero-affiliate-tracking`.

## Auditing an existing integration

If tracking is already in place and conversions aren't being attributed, run:

```text theme={"system"}
/verify-partnero-integration
```

The agent reads the codebase and reports what's broken — a script loaded from a hostname that doesn't exist, a
sign-up handler that skips customers without a referral cookie, a transaction whose customer key doesn't match the
one used at sign-up, an API key that ended up in the frontend bundle.

## Requirements

A Partnero account with at least one program. Some tools apply only to certain program types: leads belong to
affiliate programs, and a refer-a-friend program has no partners to list.
