# PayPal Mass Pay integration

> Pay your partners through PayPal, manually or on a schedule

Connect PayPal Mass Pay to send partner payouts from your PayPal balance, either on demand or automatically on
a schedule you set.

<Note>
  This is a **payout** integration. If you take payments through PayPal and want sales attributed to partners,
  see [PayPal Links & Buttons](/integrations/paypal-links-buttons-integration) instead.
</Note>

## Step 1: Create PayPal API credentials

1. Log in to [PayPal](https://www.paypal.com/signin) and click **Developer** at the bottom of the page.
2. On the developer site, click your name in the top right, then **Dashboard**.
3. Make sure you are in **Live** mode, not Sandbox.
4. Click **Apps & Credentials**, then **Create app**.
5. Give the app a name — "Partnero affiliate payouts", for example — and click **Create app**.

PayPal generates a **Client ID** and a **Secret**. You need both.

<Note>
  Mass Pay has to be enabled on your PayPal account before payouts will go through. See
  [Enable PayPal Mass Pay on PayPal](/knowledge-base/payout-management/enable-paypal-mass-pay-on-paypal).
</Note>

## Step 2: Connect in Partnero

1. Go to **Integration** under **Program** and scroll to **Apps & Integrations**.
2. Click **Authorize** next to PayPal.
3. Enter the **Client ID** and **Secret**, then click **Connect**.

A **Connected** label confirms the connection.

## Step 3: Automate payouts (optional)

With PayPal connected you can let Partnero pay partners on a schedule instead of approving each run by hand.
The schedule is configured per program and covers:

| Setting | What it controls |
| - | - |
| **Frequency** | Every so many days, weekly, monthly, or on chosen days of the month |
| **Minimum amount** | Partners below this balance are skipped until they reach it |
| **Maximum amount** | An upper bound per payout |
| **Reattempt unsuccessful payouts** | Retries payouts that failed, rather than leaving them |

Automated payouts require accepting both Partnero's and PayPal's terms before they can be switched on. For the
full walkthrough see [Payout automation](/knowledge-base/payout-management/payout-automation).

## Paying partners

Partners need PayPal payout details on their profile before they can be paid. Running a payout — manually or
automatically — is covered in
[Payouts using the PayPal Mass Pay integration](/knowledge-base/payout-management/payouts-using-paypal-mass-pay-integration).
