# Shopify integration

> Track orders from your Shopify store and attribute them to the partner who referred the customer

Shopify is a native integration: the **Partnero Affiliate Management** app handles the whole chain for you —
tracking visitors, linking customers to partners, and recording orders.

  You do not add a tracking script, edit your theme, or configure any webhooks. The app installs its own web
  pixel and subscribes to the Shopify events Partnero needs.

## Step 1: Install the app

1. Open the [Partnero Affiliate Management app](https://apps.shopify.com/partnero-affiliate-management) on the
   Shopify App Store and click **Install**.
2. Confirm by clicking **Install** again in your Shopify admin.
3. You are taken to Partnero. Choose the program you want to connect and click **Connect**.

If you have not created a program yet you are prompted to create one. Enter the basics and click **Create** —
everything is editable afterwards.

You can connect both an affiliate and a refer-a-friend program to the same store. See

## Step 2: Confirm the connection

In Partnero, go to **Integration** and scroll to **Apps & Integrations**. Shopify should show **Connected**.

That is the whole setup. Statistics appear once a referred customer completes an order.

## What gets tracked

Partnero records paid orders from your referred customers and reverses the commission automatically when an
order is refunded.

## How orders are attributed

An order can reach the right partner two ways, and you do not have to choose between them:

    order. Partnero also tags the Shopify customer so their later orders stay attributed.

    The customer enters a partner's discount code at checkout. Partnero matches the code used on the order back
    to the partner who owns it — no referral click needed.

Because the customer is tagged in Shopify, repeat orders are attributed even if the original cookie is long
gone.

## Discount codes

Partner discount codes are created and synced from Partnero rather than built by hand in Shopify. See

## Troubleshooting

    Check the app is still installed in Shopify and that **Integration** → **Apps & Integrations** shows
    Shopify as **Connected**. Uninstalling the app in Shopify removes the webhooks Partnero relies on.

    Open the customer in Shopify and look at its tags — a connected store tags referred customers with a
    `partnero_` tag holding the partner key. If the tag is missing, the order had neither a tracked referral
    visit nor a partner discount code.

  <Accordion title="A discount code is not crediting the partner">
    The code has to exist in Partnero and be assigned to that partner. A code created directly in Shopify and
    never linked in Partnero has nothing to attribute to.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Only paid orders show up">
    That is expected. Partnero listens for paid orders, not drafts or unpaid checkouts, so an abandoned or
    pending order will not create a transaction.
